Wow!! Thanksgiving is over and we are now on our way to Christmas!! That also means that wrestling has now started at our house. The boys are getting home around 6:30 or later every night now. Hard to have any family time. I am trying to make up for that this weekend. For the first time in our 19 years of marriage we had our own Thanksgiving dinner. Allen was my chief cook and bottle washer for this. He was so tired after dinner that he laid down and slept for at least 4 hours! For Thanksgiving it was just the Wanha clan and then my brother came over for dinner before it was time to pick up his kids and take them on a road trip. We started the day out with the Turkey Trot-Mom, Dad, Marcus and Dan participated and then Jon and Annika stayed home to sleep in. When we came back from the Turkey Trot, we had egg bake and rolls. Then it was time to really start to work on the turkey dinner. We ate dinner around 1 p.m. and then it was rest time for the parents. Thankfully the boys helped take care of Annika.
I have to applaud the school this past week for how Annika now knows what the Mayflower is. Well, maybe, she now calls it the "power boat". I can't figure that one out yet but anyway she was so excited coming home on Monday to proudly tell us about the ship-the Mayflower!!
Today she was able to get her picture taken with Santa Claus at Wal-mart. She proudly told him that she wanted a baby for Christmas. She loves to go in the Christmas aisle and make all the singing toys go off. This year there is a Snowman who dances and then turns around and wiggles his backside. She thinks this is so funny!!
We had to take her back to the eye doctor this morning because she failed the eye exam at school. So I was a little concerned but then after talking with her eye doctor all was well. Right now the stigmatism is only corrected to the level that she is currently seeing. Her eyesight right now is 20/40 in both eyes but just 6 months ago it was 20/70 so her eyesight is improving greatly. It is just training those eye muscles to work like they should. The eye doctor was very pleased in the progress that she has made in just six months. So what they thought would take her about a year to adjust to has only taken her 6 months. She is just staying at the current level and see if her eyes will adjust and make more improvement on their own. The good news is that we were able to get her glasses adjusted again and hopefully now we have a better fit. They now understand that her glasses need to go on the outside of her processors instead of the inside. For the first time in over a month I can now look at her and her glasses aren't half way down her nose!!! This should also help her use her glasses better since she was just peering over the top of the lenses on one side all day long.
Hopefully I will have some Christmas pictures to put up on the site after tonight. We are putting up the Christmas tree and I will try to get some pictures done for our Christmas card tonight. We will see how cooperative the kids are.
